The Crumbs on the Table
Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm
2 쪽
One day, a farmer said to his little puppies, “Come into the living room and have some fun. You can eat the crumbs on the table. The mistress has gone out to visit friends.”
But the little puppies said, “No, no, we won’t go. If the mistress finds out, she will beat us.”
The farmer said, “She won’t know anything about it. Come on, she never gives you anything good anyway.”
Again the little puppies said, “No, no, we must not go.”

But the farmer kept on until they finally went inside. They jumped onto the table and ate up all the crumbs as fast as they could.
Just then, the mistress came home. She grabbed a stick and began to beat the puppies hard.
When the puppies were outside, they said to the farmer, “Do you see? Do you see what happened?”
The farmer laughed and said, “Didn’t you expect it?”
So the puppies had to run away.
