Jacob And Esau

Jacob and Esau were twin brothers, the sons of Isaac and Rebekah. Esau was his father's favorite, but Rebekah loved Jacob more. She wanted her younger son to receive the birthright, the larger share of the property that rightfully belonged to Esau, who was born first.

One day Esau came home from hunting, exhausted and hungry. He sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of stew. Later, when Isaac was very old, he asked Esau to go hunt some game and prepare his favorite dish, promising to give him his blessing upon his return.

Rebekah overheard this. Determined that Jacob should get the blessing, she prepared a meal, dressed Jacob in Esau's clothes, and covered his hands and neck with goat skins. Jacob went to his blind father, who blessed him, thinking he was Esau.

When Esau returned, he was furious with Jacob. Isaac was deeply saddened by the deception, but he also blessed Esau, who later became wealthy and powerful.

Jacob then fled to his mother's family. There he met Rachel and fell in love with her. He agreed to work for her father Laban for seven years in exchange for her hand. But at the end of the seven years, Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah first, explaining that the older daughter must marry before the younger. Jacob then worked another seven years for Rachel, and finally married her as well.

Later, Jacob and Esau met again. They were overjoyed to see each other, for Jacob had repented of his wrongdoing, God had forgiven him, and Esau had also forgiven his brother.
